Prehistory
 

Fossil records prove the existence of paleolithic population in San Pietro a Maida. In 6th century BC were the first settlements near Sibari

According to greek historians there were settlements of the Italics and other tribes

18th century BC
  Colonisation of southern italy and Sicily by greek settlers. Founding of the Magna Graecia
5th century BC
  All Calabrian locations were under greek influence
2nd century BC
  After the second Punic War southern Italy is Latin
6th - 11th century
 

Calabria belongs to the Byzantine Empire. Monks and academics from Asia, Northafrica, and Siciliy christianize southern Italy. The basilian monks found a couple of monasteries. In the 9th century Arabs menace and depredate coastal towns in Calabria.

1053
  The Normans conquer Calabria. They bring a feudal system that is controlled by government
15th - 18th century   The Aragons take over control in southern Italy and Sicily. Arebesh, Christs from Albania are persecuted by the Turks and settle in Calabria.
19th century - 1860   In 1806 Napoleons brother in law Joachim Murat becomes the King of Naples. Misery leads to emigrations to America. The wish for freedom leads to national uprising

  Agreement in Italy. The industrialization progresses in northern Italy, but the south remains a ghetto
1880-1920
  One third of Calabrias population emigrates to America
1919
  Mussolini founds fight alliances and marches into Rome in 1922

  Due to the Lateran Treaties the Vatican was officially founded

  Italy helps Germany in WWII
1949
  After WWII proclaims republic in a plebiscite. The emigration of Calabrians continues. Traditions and culture almost die
1970
  The capital is now Catanzaro instead of Reggio. Due to this Reggio degenerates and the cooperation between politicians and the Mafia grows
1991
  The direct election of the mayor promotes autonomy.
