Day  1: Arrival
Arrival at the airport Lamezia Terme and transfer to the residence La Conchiglia. Dinner in the residence.

Day 2  „Journey to the Middle Ages“:

Today we are heading of to the little medieval town Gerace. There it seems that the time stood still for centuries. A touch from old times comes over us, especially when we are standing  in the old cathedral built in 1045. A walk through the streets passing  still intact and inhabited  houses from the early beginnings of the Middle Ages will take us to the main piazza.  With a non alcoholic drink we finish our tour through Gerace. In the early afternoon we will have a picnic at the beach of Locri (on our way to the beach we will buy all the things we need). For our little visitors we have got a playing ground directly next to the beach.

Day 3: „City on the cost - Pizzo“

The first leg of today is Francavilla Angitola. There we will visit the little museum of emigrats. Meanwhile staying there we will learn something about the huge emigration movement, in which many people from the southern part of Italy left to Germany or America. For the emigrats it was a leap in the dark and a weeks lasting journey. Afterwards we will have a nice walk through the rich vegetation of Francavilla. Before we finally return we will have dinner in a typical agriturismo nearby Pizzo.

In the afternoon we will make a scene change: and move to the lively town of Pizzo. Situated on a rock that extend into the sea it is famous especially for the “Piedigrotta”. This church was built by  castaways in a subterraneous grotto. There we will discover sculptures of local artists. Another highlight of our day will be the visit of the old Castello Murat. From this long as a prison used castle we will have a tremendous view towards the coastline. A MUST is the famous Tartufo ice. We will have the opportunity to try this delicious “Gelato” that was originally invented as a special gift for the  visit of the king of Naples.

Day 4:  „Folklore – Onionfarmers and Calabrian Dance“

Today we will enjoy an amazing  view on the edge of Capo Vaticano.  A lighthouse and two beautiful viewing spots offer an unique view to the cliffs and the coastline. If the view is clear we will even be able to see Sicily. Our next adventure will be the visit of an onion farmer and his fields. In the southern part of Italy you find the traditional red onion. Unique and sweet in their taste. Depending on the season you can braid an onion plait or we will just have a look at the preparation of typical onion products. For lunch (included) we will have delicious onion products.

A lot of fun will expect you in the afternoon. We have got our dancing lesson. There you learn some basic steps of the  traditional calabrian dance “Tarantella”. Buon divertimento.

Day 5: „Ghostvillage  Pentedattilo“

In the morning we will have a trip to the fishing village Scilla, with its wonderful beach promenade and romantic  small fishing cottages. Scilla is the most known place of Costa Viola. An ancient Greek legend from Homer's "Odyssey" describes the seamonster "Scylla” that devoured all passing ships.  For lunch we will go to a fish restaurant (they also have got menus without fish on the card).

In the early afternoon we will go to Pentidattilo – a picturesque rustic place and abandoned ghosttown at the same time. Behind the  labyrinth of alleyways, rooftops and half-ruined houses we will find a rock wall with five tines. They are also the origin of the name since pentidattilo means in greek 5 fingers. A walk through the abandoned houses will lead us to the nature trail, which takes us in  circa an hour around the five fingers.

Day 6: „Cooking pasta and making pizza on your own“

Today it is your turn. While the younger children are preparing pizza on their own, the adults will cook a complete meal with an experienced cook at our cooking school. Furthermore you will learn how to prepare the  delicious  lemon liqueur “Limoncello” Once back at home you will impress everybody with your knowledge about Calabria.

In the afternoon we will make a trip to the old caves of Zungri. A pretty good way to elax at the end of this eventful week.

Day 7: ,, Scavenger Hunt through Tropea''

In the morning, we can offer you a trip to a real Italian market in Tropea. But even if you are not visiting the market you will find little shops and bars, that are just perfect for buying souvenirs or for just having a look. Our scavenger hunt will lead you to famous sights of the medieval town.
